Katherine Leiman

March 3, 1922 — February 18, 2013

Katherine May Leiman passed away on February 18, 2013 at 90 years of age, after a long and full life. Born Katherine Kronsteiner in Baltimore, Maryland on March 3, 1922 and raised in Brooklyn (south of Baltimore), she was the daughter of Melvia and Alexander Kronsteiner. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, George, and by her younger brother, Howard, who passed away in 2011. Katherine attended Southern High School in Baltimore and worked as a telephone operator in Baltimore before marrying George in 1943. She later worked as a homemaker and as a teacher's aide for Anne Arundel County schools for 22 years. She is survived by four children, Ginger Chwastyk of Arnold, MD, George Leiman, Jr. of Silver Spring, MD, Jane Timmons of Glen Burnie, MD, and Guy Leiman of Houston, TX. She has six grandchildren, Matthew, Amy and Bradley Chwastyk, and Joseph, Michael and Tricia Timmons; and five great-grandchildren. Katherine was devoted to Glen Burnie United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 19 years and attended women's bible class, women's circle and Young at Heart. Katherine also served as a volunteer for charitable causes, collecting door-to-door for the American Heart Association and Cancer Society. She also helped to deliver Meals on Wheels and volunteered for a number of years at the Glen Burnie Carnival. Katherine was a blessing to all she knew and will be missed.
