Born July 8, 1948, in Cincinnati, OH, Mr. Dendler was the beloved son of Elmer ("Butch") and Clara (nee Kohn) Dendler. The Dendlers owned a corner store in their home that was the favorite hangout spot for the neighborhood.

Mr. Dendler loved dogs, penguins, and cows; cooking and baking; feeding and observing birds, butterflies, squirrels, and chipmunks; soaking in his hot tub or floating in a pool in his inner tube; taking cruises all over the world; reading; politics; World War I and II history; listening to Jimmy Buffett; and, above all, his bevy of loyal friends.
Mr. Dendler married Janice (nee Ziegler) Dendler in August, 1999, after meeting as U.S. Army soldiers in West Berlin, West Germany, in November 1978. Although he had no children, Mr. Dendler (AKA Uncle Animal) viewed many of his friends' children as if they were his own.
