Harrison London

On Sunday, March 30th, Mrs. Harrison London quietly transitioned to her heavenly home with God. Harrison was born in Triumph Village, Guyana on March 9, 1926 as the youngest of 5 children of Benjamin and Amelia DeHaarte.
She was the first person in her village to pass the prestigious British Oxford and Cambridge Examination. She went on to graduate from the Pittman's Institute of Business and became a teacher and ultimately Assistant Principal of one of the largest high schools in Georgetown, Guyana.
It was while she was teaching that she caught the eyes of Ovid London to whom she was married on December 23rd, 1948. Their 65 years of marriage was blessed with 6 children, Hughette McKay (deceased), Trenton London (Sharon), Desryn Duncan (Kenneth), Trevin London (Dianne), Marcia Price, and Dr. Nicola London.
She was blessed with twelve grandchildren: Kenneth Duncan, Aleetra McKay, Colles Price (Ann), Ryan London, Deidryn Duncan, Gerard Duncan, Trevelyne London, Christine London, Rodney Barnett, Chad Brooks, Nicholas Barnett, Benjamin London and one great grandchild Micah Price.
Aunt Harry and Teach, as she was known to relatives and friends, was a very kind and generous person. She gave freely of anything and everything she had without expecting anything in return. She was a very compassionate person and was always available to give advice or to be a listening ear.
She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church being very active in all church activities. She had a steadfast faith in God and always believed that all things work together for the good for those who loved the Lord and instilled this in her children and grandchildren. She believed in education and in addition to being a teacher she also tutored business classes in the evenings. She also had a passion for music and encouraged all of her children to play a musical instrument which they all do. She instilled a level of education in her children who all left to pursue higher education in the United States and Canada. As a result in order to be closer to her children and grandchildren she immigrated to the United States.
Aunt Harry was well loved and well known for her ability to always be there for everyone. She was very proud of being a mother to her children and extended that love to all who knew her. Mom, Aunt Harry, Teach also known as Dear Mom to her grandchildren will be greatly missed but will be forever in our hearts.
