SHOOK, GERTRUDE L. Gertrude Leore (Potter) Shook, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2012. Gertrude was born February 3, 1929 at the family home in Banner Elk, North Carolina to Blaine and Viola Potter. On June 3, 1950, Gertrude Potter married RH Shook (deceased- February 17, 2011) in College Park, MD. Gertrude Shook touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity and compassion. As a dedicated homemaker, she made the best pies and biscuits and gravy anyone could ever imagine. She lived her life as a Southern Bell and most importantly as a Good Samaritan. Gertrude Shook was preceded in death by her parents, Blaine and Viola; infant son, James Dalton; adopted son, Joe Willis; sisters, Louise Livingston, Helen Trivette, Mae Owens, and Mona Sue McCourry. She is survived by her sons, Gary and Ronnie; grandchildren, Angela, Christine, Julie, Alicia, and Ronnie, Jr.; great-grandchild, Jasmine; two sisters Bernetta Andrews of Glen Burnie, MD, Delores Jenkins of Pensacola, FL; and one brother, James (Jay) Potter of Glen Burnie, MD. Surviving are over 20 nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to 430 Ski Lane, Millersville, MD 21108.
