Genevieve Alberotanza

September 18, 1947 — July 16, 2017

Genevieve "Jenny" Irene Alberotanza, 69, a resident of Maryland, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland the daughter of Casimir, a World War II veteran, and Delores, a Baltimore local. Jenny graduated from Glen Burnie High School and began working at the Social Security Administration.

In 1980, she married the love of her life, Vittorio "Vic" Alberotanza, with whom she had two children, Jennifer Alberotanza and Giovanni Vito Alberotanza.

A devoted wife and mother, Jenny lived life with gusto. As a working mom, she labored tirelessly for her husband, children, family, and many others during her lifetime. As a benefit authorizer at the Social Security Administration, she took pride in her job and worked hard for those who needed assistance due to health, injury, etc.

Jenny enjoyed taking her kids to Downs Park on weekends with her sister, Joann. An avid reader, Jenny had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and spent her free time researching various subjects that interested her and sharing her findings with family and friends. She loved cooking, trying new recipes and perfecting them to share with loved ones.

She was an adventurer, not afraid to strike out on her own and teach her children about the world. One summer, she planned a two month road trip across the United States with her children, ages 9 and 7 at the time. During this trip, Jenny, Jennifer, and Giovanni visited some of the most impressive landmarks in the country including the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and Mount Rushmore to name a few. The trip sparked a wanderlust in her children that thrives to this day.

Jenny is survived by her husband Vittorio Alberotanza; daughter Jennifer Onorato (husband Jeremy, children Bella, Ethan, and Luca); son Giovanni Alberotanza (fiancée Mandy), sister JoAnn Cox; nephews Steve McCracken (son Sebastian) and Aaron McCracken (wife Karyn and children Hunter, Ryder, and Grace). She is also survived by her life-long friend Robin Sirkel (husband Jesse, children Tiffany and Shane); Janet Lutz (husband Rich, children Richie and Doris).
