Bynum Norris

December 15, 1933 — June 26, 2013

Bynum "Bob" Norris, 79, of Glen Burnie and previously of Walnut Hill, PA, passed away on June 26, 2013 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Bob was born in 1933 in Boonsboro, NC. He served in the US Army where he retired as Sergeant First Class after 21 years of service. While serving in the US Army, Bob earned many personal decorations including the Army Commendation Medal with bronze oak leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Ribbon with 2 bronze knots, World War II Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal with bronze oak leaf cluster, Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars in lieu of 3rd award, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars in lieu of 3rd award, United Nations Korean Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After retiring from the military, Bob went to work for General Electric in the appliance fabrication and assembly department for 19 years. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens, and feeding the squirrels. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Norris; three children, Bynum G. Norris, Jr. and his wife Vivian of St. Louisville, OH, Marilyn Susan Phelps and husband Cary of Severn, MD, and Jeffery R. Norris and wife Cheryl of Pasadena, MD; two brothers, Leonard Norris of Florida, and Lloyd Norris of Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Presock; and two brothers, Pat Norris and Larry Norris.
