August 22, 1937 — February 9, 2017

A loving wife and mother and accomplished businesswoman, Brightsie Willis Stroud, 79, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Living most of her life in Glen Burnie, MD, Brightsie at the time of her passing was a resident of Simpsonville, SC.
Brightsie was a strong woman who knew what she wanted and worked hard to accomplish her goals. Yet, she exuded kindness and found great joy in making the people around her happy. She maintained a positive attitude through any challenges placed before her.
Brightsie enjoyed life on every level with her husband, best friend and soul mate, Bobby Gene Stroud. Their love for each other found that perfect balance. The twinkle in Brightsie's eye let you know she held a special place in her heart for Bob who was with her at the end.
Her business successes created many opportunities for them to travel the world and enjoy recognition for her numerous accomplishments.
As owner of Certified Financial Services for well over 30 years, Brightsie was a female pioneer in the insurance and financial services industry. Brightsie successfully provided outstanding services to her clients and won numerous awards.
Brightsie was born August 22, 1937, to the late Homer and Dora Willis, and initially grew up in Amherst, VA. In addition to her husband, Brightsie is survived by her only son, Charles "Chuck" Gallagher, two grandchildren, Rob and Alex Gallagher; her two living brothers, Emmitt Willis and Bennie Willis and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
Brightsie was a mother figure to Melanie and Noel Dalton, and was known as Grandmamma Brightsie to Morgan, Kent, Megan and Fuzzy whom she lovingly called her grandchildren. Each of these children was very special to her and she loved them as her own.
Brightsie provided a glowing example of how to live life through a commitment to professional and personal excellence. She touched the world in a positive light in many ways, leaving a legacy of joy, class and love.
