Bertha Tawney

Bertha G. Tawney, 93, a resident of Glen Burnie for 66 years, passed away on August 28, 2013. She was born in Baltimore, MD on February 29, 1920 to the late Frank and Hattie Merritt. She was a member of the Glen Burnie Moose Chapter 1176 and the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She enjoyed watching cooking and game shows and socializing with people. "To know her was to love her". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Lewis S. Tawney, Jr.; one daughter, Janice Harkins; and one brother, Marvin E. Merritt. Bertha is survived by her two sons, Lewis S. Tawney, III and Marvin G. Tawney; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
