Audrey Mary Newton, 93, of Glen Burnie, passed away on November 28, 2012 at her home. Audrey was born in 1919 in Baltimore, MD. She graduated from Southern High School in Baltimore. After high school, Audrey went to work at Dunn & Bradstreet. Thereafter, she was an Insurance Claims Adjuster for Nationwide Insurance Company. Audrey was a member of the AARP, the Cedarettes, and the Women's Circle of Glen Burnie United Methodist Church. She ran the balloons and novelties stand at the Greater Glen Burnie Carnival. Her hobbies included ceramics, playing board games, watching the Baltimore Orioles, MD Chill Softball, and going out to eat at Double T Diner and Olive Garden. She also enjoyed passing out Halloween candy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Reginald H. Newton; mother-in-law, Esther Marie Newton; parents, Catherine L and Walter J. Johnson; brother, Wilmer J. Johnson; son, Michael Newton; and son-in-law, Phil Prosser. She is survived by five children, Sandra Debow and her husband John, Bob Newton and his wife Gwen, Karen Prosser, Kevin Newton and his wife Pam, and Tammy Spangle and her husband Paul; granddaughter, Buffy Newton (the favorite), and 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
